GVZ: Provisional damage assessment 2023
GVZ Gebäudeversicherung Kanton Zürich can look back on another moderate claims year. In 2023, both fire and natural hazard claims fell slightly compared to the previous year.
The estimated total loss amounts to CHF 48.4 million (previous year: CHF 59.9 million). In 2023, GVZ processed a total of 3,599 claims (previous year: 3,325), including 1,080 fire claims and 2,519 natural hazard claims.
The total estimated fire damage decreased by around CHF 8.0 million compared to the previous year to CHF 40.2 million (previous year: CHF 48.6 million). With an estimated loss amount of CHF 8.2 million (previous year: CHF 11.3 million), damage caused by natural hazards is also below the previous year's figure.

GVZ Gebäudeversicherung Kanton Zürich insures buildings in the canton of Zurich against fire and natural hazards and is committed to protecting people and property through prevention. It fulfills its legal mandate to provide fire protection and fire departments in close cooperation with the municipalities.
