Higher accident figures due to exceptionally fine weather
In 2018, significantly more Suva insureds had accidents while biking and cycling as well as hiking and walking. The reason for this was the well above-average temperatures, which led to more time being spent outdoors. In total, more than 474,000 accidents and occupational illnesses occurred.
In 2018, the Suva over 474,000 accidents among its insured. This is 2.0 percent more than in the previous year. The number of occupational accidents rose by 1.9 percent, which is in line with the increase in the number of employees according to the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (BSF). The number of non-occupational accidents, on the other hand, recorded an increase of 2.7 percent and is higher than the increase in the number of employees. The reason for this is likely to be the exceptionally beautiful and warm summer of 2018. The Accidents in persons registered as unemployed decreased by 6.9 percent compared with the previous year. This can be attributed to the good economic situation and the decline in the unemployment rate.
More accidents due to exceptionally nice weather
