Honeywell acquires RSI Video Technologies

Honeywell Group acquires RSI Video Technologies, manufacturer of intrusion detection systems for commercial and residential security applications.

The battery-powered wireless motion detectors from RSI with integrated cameras transmit live video images via the cloud to monitoring centers and end users. The acquisition enables Honeywell to meet growing global customer demand for video-based verification. It also allows the company to combine a do-it-yourself range of products with professional surveillance technology.

"RSI complements the industry-leading product portfolio of Honeywell in the field of security technology and brings important new technology and software that will deliver significant benefits to our security customers," said Alex Ismail, chairman and CEO of Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions.

"There has long been a need in the industry for new ways to ease the burden on local law enforcement agencies in their response to false alarms," said David Paja, chairman of Honeywell Security & Fire.

The purchase price for RSI, which was founded in 2000 in Strasbourg, France, is reportedly around USD 123 million (EUR 113 million). RSI employs around 110 people in France and the USA.
