Drug ring dismantled

Various cantonal police forces have busted an internationally active Albanian drug ring. More than 15 kilograms of heroin and several thousand francs in cash were seized. The drugs have an alley value of over one million francs.

After several months of investigation, a 43-year-old Serb and his eight-year-old younger brother were arrested in mid-February, the cantonal police of St.Gallen announced today. Involved were, in addition to the canton St.Gallen also Zurich, Schwyz, Geneva as well as the Fedpol. During the house searches in three cantons, about 13.5 kilograms of heroin and several thousand francs in cash were seized, according to the information. The drugs were brought from Albania to the Linth region by international couriers. From there, the heroin was distributed to various bulk buyers throughout Switzerland. The 43-year-old Serb was arrested at one of them, after the delivery. The two buyers, a 25-year-old and a 26-year-old Albanian, were also arrested by the Geneva cantonal police.

From the Linth area and from the Walensee region, one of the brothers also supplied the regional trade. Thus, according to the Kapo, these locations could also be excavated last week. There, the police arrested a 24- and a 26-year-old Albanian during a drug delivery with 90 grams of heroin. In his environment, several kilograms of heroin and extender as well as cash were seized, according to a final statement.
