The LUKS Children's Hospital is the only children's hospital in Central Switzerland and has set itself the goal of making an important contribution to sustainable accident prevention for children and young people. The Safety Day aims to raise awareness in a playful way of the dangers lurking in everyday life and how they can be effectively avoided by simple means.

Lucerne's biggest ladder game

Many attractions await the participants with fun and games. As the main attraction, Lucerne's largest ladder game invites children and young people to experience how they can protect themselves from accidents in everyday life. Be it on the road, in their free time or at home. On site, children can take a seat in the fire engines; the fire department team can count on the active support of junior fire extinguishers. The rescue service presents its new baby ambulance and tells exciting stories about its missions. Participants will also have the opportunity to marvel at and feel a real brain. Skill is also required: wave and kickboards are available on a course and a huge trampoline invites you to jump into the air. The incredible forces that can be at work in road traffic are impressively demonstrated with a bicycle helmet crash test. In addition, the focus on "Safety at home" will show how accidents can be avoided at home. Great prizes await the participants.

Children's hospital stands up for children and young people

The "Kispi" of the LUKS sees itself as the center for the specialized treatment of children and adolescents with congenital malformations, diseases or the consequences of accidents in Central Switzerland. Pediatric surgery, pediatrics, neonatology, intensive care medicine and child psychiatry problems are comprehensively assessed and treated by competent specialists. "We see time and again that serious accidents can arise from annoying, avoidable situations. To raise awareness among families - especially children - we have decided to hold a public safety day," says Prof. Philipp Szavay, Head of Paediatric Surgery at the Children's Hospital.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on the grounds of the LUKS Children's Hospital. Participation is free of charge, no registration is required.
