Digitization offers new opportunities for Swiss industry. On February 12 and 13, 2020, "maintenance Schweiz" in Zurich will show how they can be used. The focus of the 13th trade fair for industrial maintenance will be on energy efficiency, predictive maintenance and smart services.

The most important industry event with over 75 exhibitors and around 2,000 visitors brings together the leading suppliers and experts. The three focus topics are energy efficiency, smart services and predictive maintenance. These terms stand for new products and services that are changing the market. By visiting maintenance Switzerland, companies and their employees stay informed: Innovations become tangible at the booths, at the "smart maintenance CONFERENCE" and in the "ScienceCenter/SolutionCenter", experts bring their findings from research and development to the point.

But maintenance also means adhering to rules - and doing so consistently.

"If we had taken a little more time, if we had followed the rules, if we had informed, if we had hired professionals, if we had..." - unfortunately, all too late. You can't undo an accident. But there are good ways to do the right thing to prevent one from happening. Applied consistently, employees and employers save a lot: disability, death, loss and a lot of money. To do this, the Suva also present their current prevention campaigns at their booth in Zurich. Urs Haberstich, Suva's safety engineer, will speak on this topic in the "ScienceCenter/SolutionCenter" on the 2nd day of the trade fair on the topic of "Industry 4.0 - Opportunities and risks for safe maintenance".

Maintenance Switzerland grows

With the increasing Digitization interest in its solutions is growing in the industry. In 2019, maintenance Schweiz recorded a record number of visitors and is looking forward to lively interest in the coming year. In its 13th edition, it will again offer attendees the opportunity to navigate all aspects of industrial maintenance in just one day. The exact list of players and their topics can be found on the maintenance Switzerland website and will be updated continuously. The Industry association fmpro as a proven trade fair partner of Easyfairs, is once again present with a joint stand. "Education and training is also an important concern for the association and for us as organizers, in order to promote young talent and to advance the Swiss market for maintenance," says Stefan Voegele, Event Content Manager of Easyfairs Switzerland. "That's why we are proud to be joined by the Swiss Alliance for Data-Intensive Services, Topmotors and fmpro, as well as the Association of Wastewater and Water Protection Professionals VSA To have on board."

Know-how transfer with a strong partner

Great importance is attached to science at maintenance Switzerland. The presentations at the smart maintenance CONFERENCE offer an overview of the results of applied research. For this purpose, organizer Easyfairs is working for the second time with the Swiss Alliance for Data-Intensive Services together. Gundula Heinatz, managing director of the innovation network, is convinced that industry events are central to know-how transfer: "Very few companies can solve problems on their own. The exchange with science gives companies the opportunity to find the right research partner," she says. "Maintenance Switzerland shows what works in practice or what just didn't work."

Universities and companies report on trend topics

Shaun West from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences HSLU will present concrete examples of smart services at the smart maintenance CONFERENCE. One of these solutions uses AI technologies based on data from existing sensors to reduce operation and maintenance costs. Another presentation will focus on Predictive Maintenance in focus: Marc Tesch from LeanBI and Yvan Jacquat from OST explain the topic clearly and present three categories of solutions. The topic of energy efficiency in electric drives also holds huge potential: With more efficient motors, integrated systems and optimized operation, their consumption can be reduced by 20 to 30 percent. Topmotors is therefore an important partner of maintenance Switzerland 2020. The organization is known as an information platform and as an implementation program that, with the support of SwissEnergy works. Topmotors is managed by the independent energy consultancy Impact Energy.
