More incentives for reintegration

After a successful pilot test, Suva is expanding its reintegration program. The aim is to offer employers more financial incentives to give people career prospects after an accident.

To support companies that provide suitable workplaces for injured employees

The current economic situation and advancing digitalization are making it increasingly difficult to reintegrate injured workers into the job market - especially if they are untrained or poorly trained. In order to support companies that provide suitable jobs for these people, Suva is now launching the "Incentives for company reintegration" program.

The focus is on people who are no longer able to carry out their original occupation after an accident or who can only do so again with a great deal of commitment from their employer. Another criterion is that there is no entitlement to an occupational measure from the disability insurance (IV) - either because those affected are not entitled to retraining without training or because the IV does not become active for another reason. However, the program is implemented in close cooperation between Suva and the IV.

20,000 francs success fee

Significantly more insured persons and companies should now benefit from the optimized incentive system. To this end, Suva is expanding its benefits. In future, the offer will also be available to companies that reintegrate their own employees who have had an accident. Until now, the incentive system has applied to companies that have created a job for an employee who has had an accident. Because: "We prefer to give our insured persons prospects rather than a pension," says Peter Diermann, Head of Insurance Benefits at Suva.

The new incentive system allows Suva to cover reintegration costs of up to CHF 20,000. "This includes, for example, workplace adjustments, costs for training for a new job or training courses with a view to redeployment or new employment," says Diermann. In addition, a success fee of CHF 20,000 can be paid upon successful completion of the measure. These costs do not result in a premium burden for the company. Suva's aim is to achieve financial savings through these measures.

The "Incentives for occupational reintegration" program replaces the "Occupational reintegration initiative" pilot project, with which Suva has reintegrated 180 insured persons over the last five years and saved CHF 30 million in pension payments.
