More sales at Siemens in Switzerland
Siemens once again increased its revenue in Switzerland in the first six months of the current fiscal year 2024 (01.10.2023 to 31.03.2024). Revenue generated by Siemens companies increased to 1.385 billion Swiss francs. In the same period of the previous year, it was 1.377 billion Swiss francs.
As one of the largest technology employers in the country, Siemens employs more than 5900 people in Switzerland. Siemens' positive business development in Switzerland is largely driven by digital products and solutions from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, which support customers in achieving their sustainability and digitalization goals.
"Our technologies connect the digital world with the real world," says Matthias Rebellius, who is responsible for Switzerland on the global Siemens Executive Board. "With our solutions and systems, we enable our customers to make a positive contribution to sustainability, and I am proud that we are well on the way to achieving the net-zero targets by 2030 for our own operations," explains Rebellius.
In the current fiscal year, Siemens was able to implement a large number of forward-looking customer projects in Switzerland. The Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne, for example, has launched an innovative offering for effective emissions management at industrial companies, relying on Siemens technology. The SiGREEN software solution from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio uses detailed real data to record the CO2 footprint of industrial goods. This makes the emission values of products along the entire supply chain an effective measurement and control tool. This enables a manufacturing company to identify and implement targeted optimization measures in the production process.
Siemens was able to implement another innovative project with the Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway. Following a successful pilot project, the railroad company is implementing the RailXplore ATM tool from Siemens Mobility across its entire route network. By the end of 2024, 18 stations and almost 170 switches will be equipped with a digital solution for switch diagnostics. The system continuously monitors the condition of the points in order to identify problems before they occur. This will minimize downtimes, increase the reliability of the points and improve the efficiency of maintenance processes.

In Switzerland, Siemens has a strong market position in building technology and energy distribution (Smart Infrastructure) as well as in industrial and drive technology (Digital Industries and Siemens Industries Software). The company also holds a leading position in rail technology (Siemens Mobility). Siemens is also the majority owner of Siemens Healthineers, a leading provider of medical technology with a strong presence in Switzerland. Siemens Energy is a separately managed company in energy transmission and generation, which is also active in Switzerland. Siemens holds a minority stake in Siemens Energy.
The global activities of Siemens Smart Infrastructure (SI) are managed from the headquarters in Zug. Matthias Rebellius is CEO of this global business with around 75,000 employees.
