Several Swiss security organizations affected by malware
The Bern Cantonal Police has been affected by a malware attack for several days. According to the Police Technology and Informatics Competence Center (PTI Switzerland), several Swiss security organizations have currently fallen victim to cyberattacks.
As reported by the Police Technology and Informatics Competence Center (PTI Switzerland), it was informed by the Bern Cantonal Police on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, that it was affected by a so-called "emotet" attack.
PTI Switzerland then worked with the relevant security organizations at national level,
cantonal and municipal levels. This revealed that several
Organizations - as well as companies - affected as alleged senders of such e-mails
were and would have received many corresponding e-mails.
The PTI Switzerland is acting as a hub for the exchange of best practices in dealing with the attack and any immediate measures, according to the statement.
The National Center for Cybersecurity (NCSC, previously Melani) has already warned in november the public from the Trojan. The attachment of the email usually contains a password-protected zip file that contains a Word document.
