Mobile support for SiBes
With the help of pilot projects, Quentic demonstrated at A+A in Düsseldorf that the use of innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence or augmented reality is no longer a pipe dream in occupational health and safety. The provider of software and services for occupational safety, environmental and sustainability management presented, among other things, a Digital Assistant that can be used to support operational safety by safety advisors (SiBes). The SAFETY-PLUS editorial team interviewed Markus Becker, Quentic CEO, about this.
Mr. Becker, you will also be presenting digital applications for occupational safety and security consultants with artificial intelligence at A+A. What are these applications?
Markus Becker: Specifically, we present pilot projects here that show various possible applications of artificial intelligence in occupational health and safety. One of the highlights is a "Safety Bot" that can be used in incident reporting. You can think of it like an Alexa, but with a focus on Occupational health and safety topics. The digital assistant guides the user in a dialog through the entire reporting process of a property damage or personal injury with a mobile device. The chatbot ensures that all steps are followed and that no important information is forgotten. It activates the entire reporting chain and suggests concrete solutions or instructions for action. All this works with intelligent speech recognition, so that the user no longer has to fill out small forms on the mobile device, but can conveniently speak all the information.
We are also presenting an AI-based image recognition system that can be used to protect employees from safety risks. In our model, we demonstrate this here at A+A with a few examples. For example, if a person is deployed in a safety area without suitable protective equipment, or if he or she is carrying an unauthorized object, the system immediately reports this risk.
Do you need special terminal equipment for this?
Our software solutions run on all common computer systems, but also on mobile devices and are browser-independent. You can work with both Android and Apple devices such as iPhone or iPad. The special thing is the combination between the mobile devices and the corresponding platform behind where you do the reporting, Analyses and can also call up the reporting.
And are these applications part of the Quentic software now?
The development team led by our Chief Product Officer Mario Lenz, who is also presenting the applications here at A+A as part of the "Future of Work" highlight route, is continuing to test and evaluate these technologies for us. They are currently still pilot projects, but we all see great potential for them in occupational health and safety and also for Quentic.
Another topic is audit management with the Quentic 12.0 software. How exactly does it work and what is the particular advantage for users?
Audit Management has been enhanced as part of our latest software update. Basically, Quentic enables very easy collaboration between employees who do audits and those who are audited. They can do mobile audits very easily directly in their production areas with a tablet. Afterwards, they then have the corresponding digital reporting and there is no need to exchange paper documents anymore. If auditors are responsible for planning and conducting an inspection, but not for evaluating the results and deriving measures, this can be mapped with the new module component Findings. It separates audit and task responsibility.
