New head of the independent supervisory authority of the intelligence service

At a meeting on June 3, 2022, the Federal Council elected Prisca Fischer as the new head of the independent supervisory authority of the intelligence service AB-ND. The 47-year-old studied law at the University of Fribourg and graduated with a master's degree in 2005. From 2005 to 2007, Fischer worked, among other things, as an investigator and deputy head of the Operations Supervision Section at the Swiss Federal Gaming Board (ESBK). Fischer also held positions at the Federal Criminal Court as an extraordinary investigating judge for the Italian-speaking area and as a risk profiler at the PSP Personal Security Audits Unit of the Swiss Federal Chancellery. Since July 2021, she has headed a group of investigators in the area of financial market legislation at the Criminal Law Service of the FDF General Secretariat.

Fischer is the ideal candidate for the position with her education and training and her career, according to the federal government. Fischer succeeds Thomas Fritschi, who took over as head of the secretariat of the Swiss Federal Gaming Board (SFGB) in April.
