New possibilities - more safety

The EU's new General Aviation Regulation will soon come into force. This is intended to make drone operations safer, but also to offer new opportunities - for inspections, for example.

With the new General Aviation Regulation, there are uniform rules for the European drone market in the EU area. The aim is to make unmanned aerial vehicles safer and quieter.. The impact of the law change would be felt in logistics, surveying and inspection, as well as in the development of air cabs and in the security industry, writes the European Drone Summit, which sees itself as a platform for the entire drone industry.

Easier inspection work

According to Drone Summit, the areas of application for drones in the field of inspections have increased rapidly in recent years, and the market potential has grown accordingly. Due to a new classification in the Basic Aviation Regulation, inspections over long distances and fully automatically are now possible. The future safe flying beyond visual range (BVLOS) thus brings new possibilities: Thanks to unmanned aerial vehicles and integrated software, inspections that were previously time-consuming and difficult can now be carried out automatically and in minutes. For example, the inspection of railroads, the search for leaks in district heating pipelines, a survey of stockpiles, buildings or bridges can be flown automatically and the collected data quickly evaluated, according to Drone Summit.

 Drone Conference

The new opportunities and framework conditions are important for many areas of business and industry. At the Interaerial Solutions (October 16-18, 2018), the leading trade show in the field of professionally deployed drones, the European Drone Summit is a partner. At Drone Summit October 15 the operators and manufacturers will discuss the consequences of the Basic Aviation Regulation. As a speaker, Marian Jean-Marinescu, Member of the European Parliament, will also provide answers on the new basic regulation. He emphasizes in advance, "We need to make sure that all drones are safe. Any incident will affect the success of the whole industry."

The event will also feature technical workshops that will provide answers to questions in the areas of logistics, inspection, drone defense and security. Information will also be provided on what the future UTM drone control system will look like.
