New voice of the testing and certification industry
Companies in the testing, inspection and certification industry have founded the TIC Council organization. TIC stands for Testing, Inspection as well as Certification.
The new global association aims to represent the testing, verification and certification services of independent third parties to business, society and politics, according to a media release from TÜV Rheinland. TIC Council, which was founded in December 2018, emerged from the merger of the former international industry associations IFIA and CEOC and is based in Brussels, according to the statement. The association brings together 90 member companies and organizations from around the world as the new voice of the industry, it said.
"The TIC industry is a trusted partner to businesses, governments and society worldwide. As an independent third party, we help companies navigate the complex world of international trade and regulations. We help create a safe and sustainable environment for people everywhere. All members of the TIC Council are committed to the highest ethical standards and the highest possible level of integrity," said Michael Fübi, President of the TIC Council.
Wide range of services
The independent TIC industry has a wide range of services that include product testing, evaluation and certification of goods deliveries, industrial testing, auditing and certification of management systems, professional development and training, audits of infrastructure projects and construction, and in the maritime sector. The skills and services of the testing companies are offered in all sectors of the economy along the entire value chain, TÜV Rheinland writes. The industry represents around one million employees worldwide and generates an estimated annual turnover of 200 billion US dollars, according to a market study.
"TIC Council calls on governments and key stakeholder organizations to advocate for effective solutions that protect the public, facilitate trade and promote innovation. With the expertise and competence of our members, we can provide valuable advice to policymakers worldwide on the use of testing and certification services. We help advance the regulations needed to protect consumers without hindering innovation or unnecessarily burdening companies," emphasized Hanane Taidi, Director General of the TIC Council.
