New professional association
The security industry has a new professional association: The Association of Private and Public Security Service Providers Switzerland, VPOSS for short, aims to address SMEs in particular in a market environment dominated by large companies, according to the new association.
Founded shortly before the end of the year, the VPOSS does not see itself as competition to the existing professional associations, but as a complement. Efforts would be made to also address opinion leaders from the field of public safety, so that communication and the exchange of experience between public bodies and private security service providers could be strengthened and intensified.
Uniform training standard
In the difficult environment of the Swiss security industry, especially in the SME sector, a strong association of different security companies is more important than ever. VPOSS tries to bundle information from the security industry throughout Switzerland and pass it on directly to its members.
According to VPOSS, a uniform standard in the area of training and continuing education, which is broadly supported, is to be created through a separate training commission. This should also be achieved through direct contact with the relevant authorities.
After the Conference of the Cantonal Justice and Police Directors of Switzerland decided at its autumn meeting last November that the concordat on private security services would not enter into force as planned on January 1, 2017, the situation is more unclear than ever, according to the new association. It is therefore hoped that a direct exchange with other professional associations and VPOSS members will bring clarity to the currently unclear environment.
Who is behind the new association?
According to the announcement, six companies from German-speaking Switzerland are among the founding members of VPOSS; they also immediately provide the board of directors. The following companies are listed on the association's website under "active members": 12plus Sicherheitsdienste GmbH, BSS Beck Security Services, Giwa Security GmbH, investigo GmbH and Mamo Verkehrsdienste GmbH. The company Sicherheitsschule International is noted as an associated member. The president of the association is Adelrich Gisler, managing director of Giwa Security GmbH.
