New job description "ICT Security Expert
Protection against cyberattacks on companies and administrative networks is becoming increasingly important in the age of Industry 4.0. But finding enough security experts for this field is difficult. That is why the new job description "ICT Security Expert" is being launched.
The national umbrella organization ICT Vocational Training Switzerland is launching the "ICT Security Expert" project in collaboration with the Federal IT Steering Committee (FSUIT) and with the support of companies. The aim of the sponsorship from business and administration is to develop a federal diploma-level qualification for IT specialists in the field of information security and to train highly qualified experts.
The first federal examinations for "ICT Security Expert" are expected to take place as early as summer 2018.
Project at national level
Jörg Aebischer, Managing Director of ICT-Berufsbildung Schweiz, emphasized that there is currently a lack of a degree at the national level for the ICT security sector in Switzerland. The creation of a federal qualification would counteract the shortage of skilled workers in the ICT sector.
The new job description of the "ICT Security Expert" will take on an important function as a state-recognized person of trust. "Whether in the private sector or at the federal level, we are convinced that ICT security cannot be guaranteed without well-trained specialists," explains Peter Fischer, head of the ISB.
