PSAgA fall protection with "Turbo

Although the dangers at edges are particularly great when working at great heights, they are relatively little known. Honeywell has developed a solution for this with its Miller series of edge-tested retractable type fall arresters that guarantee safety even at edges. The editors of SAFETY-PLUS spoke to Alexander Zabawa, responsible for Central Europe, gas detection and general safety technology at Honewell, at A+A.

We are now here in the field of PSAgA, the Fall protection area. What exactly are your new products at the A+A?

Alexander Zabawa: This is our "Turbo Light Edge", an innovation. Our goal was to produce a fiber that prevents a belay strap from being cut by a sharp rock edge, for example. We have achieved this with "Spectre Fiber" succeeded.

In addition, in the safety hook of the harness we have added a color cartridge that changes color in case of overuse, so that the climber knows, for example, that the harness must either go into maintenance or be taken out of service before further use.

In which areas do you still need this protective equipment?

Everywhere where it is high. Wind turbines, for example, are a very popular topic. Huge heights to work at. Or at high vents or chimneys in the Power Plant Area. The field of application is very large. Think of loads in the Railroad area. You quickly reach a height of over three meters. That's where we want to prevent accidents from happening. But even smaller heights are not without danger. Wherever someone can fall, it is appropriate to use fall protection.

Which What other innovations will you be presenting at the stand?

What rounds out our portfolio are these Manager-Climbing aids. You very often see workers latching on and off the steps when ascending and descending. This is exactly the point where accidents can happen. Here we have developed a system where you don't have to disconnect from safety during the climbing process.
