Smoke free teaching

With the start of the new training year, the Smoke-Free Apprenticeship project enters another round. This involves apprentices opting for a smoke-free apprenticeship year. They are encouraged to remain smoke-free. If they wish, smokers can receive free advice on how to stop smoking. There are also prizes for participants.

If apprentices stay smoke-free, rewards await.

57 percent of today's smokers started smoking before their 18th birthday. To motivate young people to lead a smoke-free and healthy life, the Lung League developed the Smoke-Free Apprenticeship project. Throughout Switzerland, almost 13,000 apprentices participated in Smoke-Free Apprenticeship in the last project year. More and more training companies are supporting their apprentices in becoming smoke-free.

Motivate, encourage and support
If apprentices participate in the Smoke-Free Apprenticeship, they commit to not using tobacco during the apprenticeship year. Smoking apprentices are entitled to free stop-smoking counseling and are tobacco-free from the start of the project. To motivate and support them, participants receive three newsletters during the apprenticeship year. To check whether the young people are abstaining from any tobacco (cigarette, shisha, cannabis, snus, snuff, e-cigarettes, etc.), random breath tests are conducted. All successful project participants will be entered into a national prize draw to win a two-week language trip, vouchers for an overnight stay at Europa-Park and other attractive prizes. Learners, training companies and vocational schools can register for the project until November 8.
