Smoke detector recall
In voluntary cooperation with the Swiss Federal Inspectorate of Heavy Current, Smartwares Group is recalling the RM336 smoke detector. This may trigger an alarm too late, which could cause carbon monoxide poisoning.
According to the recall of the Heavy Current Inspectorate (ESTI), smoke detectors with the article designation CO detector RM336 (EAN 8711658465609) of subsequent batches (the batch number is located on the back of the smoke detector) are affected:
- 4500176485
- 4500176266
- 4500176582
- 4500176795
- 4500177292
Product tests have shown that the affected smoke detectors, which were sold in Switzerland in 2016 in Jumbo-branches sold, in some cases, set off alarms too late, which could cause carbon monoxide poisoning, ESTI writes. Excessive inhalation of carbon monoxide can cause dizziness, nausea, headaches, and in the worst cases, fainting and even death.
Customers who are in possession of a CO detector RM336 with the batch numbers mentioned are asked to return it to a Jumbo branch. They will be refunded the purchase price, as the ESTI notification concludes.
