Semi-trailer truck drives in Tobel

The 61-year-old was driving the articulated vehicle loaded with excavated material on the snow-covered road from Fischingen towards Mühlrüti SG. For reasons that are still unclear, the vehicle combination left the road in a slight left-hand bend, hit the crash barrier, drove down the steeply sloping embankment, overturned and crashed into trees. The seriously injured man was trapped in the heavily damaged driver's cab. His care and initial treatment during the rescue was provided by an emergency physician and a rescue crew. The responsible fire departments freed the man from his situation in an elaborate operation. He was then transported by Rega flown to the hospital. Source: Kapo St.Gallen
