Arbitration board for surfers
A new arbitration board will now mediate disputes between Internet users and providers in the event of a possible violation of the conduct guidelines on net neutrality.
In November 2014, the Code of Conduct signed by Swisscom, Sunrise, Salt Mobile SA, upc cablecom and the Swisscable association came into force. This is associated with the creation of a Arbitration Board for Net Neutrality. According to a statement by Swisscom, the body began its work on September 1, 2015.
Internet users who believe that their provider (who is also a signatory to the Code) is violating the Code of Conduct may contact the conciliation body Net neutrality if the previous discussions with the network operator have not led to any clarification.
The arbitration board draws up an annual report on its activities and evaluates the impact of the Code of Conduct on the openness of the Internet. It is made up of three independent experts from the fields of media law, ICT and consumer protection.
