Swiss Armed Forces strengthens cooperation with Swisscom for the new digitalization platform

With the New Digitalization Platform (NDP), Cyber Command is laying the foundations for the digital transformation of the armed forces in operations. The first mission-critical applications were integrated into the NDP as planned at the end of March. The development of the NDP is therefore still on track. The Armed Forces are expanding their proven collaboration with Swisscom. As a strategic ICT partner, Swisscom is making a significant contribution to the successful further development of the NPD.

The first mission-critical applications were integrated into the New Digitalization Platform (NDP) at the end of March 2025. The development of the NDP is therefore still on schedule and will be able to provide the first services from the high-availability, robust data centers for the benefit of military users by 1 July 2026. The further expansion will take place gradually and will continue into the 2030s.

With the NDP, the Swiss Armed Forces are building a robust, secure and resilient information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure. This will enable the digitalization of the Swiss Armed Forces. The NDP will improve the command and operational capability of the Swiss Armed Forces in everyday life and in the event of conflict. The NDP enables the digitalization of the Swiss Armed Forces at a technical level and is therefore considered a critical success factor for strengthening defence capabilities.

Swisscom as a strategic partner

The Swiss Armed Forces and Swisscom have been working closely together since the contract was awarded at the end of 2019 as part of the development of the NDP. With the Armed Forces' decision in favor of Swisscom as a strategic ICT partner, the knowledge built up can be further expanded and developed. Swisscom brings extensive skills and strengths in the field of ICT to this partnership, opening up further opportunities for the Cyber Command in the innovation, development, provision and operation of ICT solutions. As a strategic ICT partner, Swisscom contributes to the construction, further development, operational support and resilience of the NDP.
