The World Skills Championships take place every two years. This year's edition in São Paulo, Brazil, starts on August 11.

Over 1,000 young professionals showcase their skills in 46 different professions: From landscape gardener to beauty care to printing technologist. They all have to perform demanding professional tasks over four days of competition. In addition to precision and quality, the speed of work also counts.

There are 40 young professionals from Switzerland competing in 38 different trades. The Swiss have made excellent preparations: Around 12 tons of material were shipped to Brazil so that the participants also have the same tools and machines at their disposal that they use at home. In addition, there was intensive training alongside the daily work routine as well as three team weekends with all participants.

In the past, the Swiss have performed excellently in each case: Calgary 2009 with 2nd place, in London 2011 with 3rd place, and in Leipzig 2013 again with 2nd place. Thus, they were the best European nation in the competition each time.
