Security, ERP and New Work as key challenges
Swiss companies continue to face many challenges this year: Although the Corona pandemic is now weakening, geopolitical uncertainties, energy prices and the ongoing shortage of skilled workers are shaping the business market. The market research institute IDC has surveyed the Swiss IT market on the requirements of digital needs.
IT decision-makers and business managers are increasingly faced with the task of adapting their area of responsibility to the very dynamic economic situation. From the point of view of the market research institute IDC, every CIO and IT boss should intensively follow the technological developments of the next few years. The recommendations are based on a Survey of a total of 295 Swiss companies from all industries, conducted by "Computerworld" and IDC between November 2021 and February 2022.
The study shows that the majority (57 percent) are already implementing limited measures in more digitization projects or are in the pilot phase. However, since development is increasing rapidly, companies should by no means rest on their laurels, according to IDC.
The trend toward resilience reveals a surprising range. Only three percent of the companies consider themselves to be not very resilient. However, 60 percent see themselves as resilient (48 percent) or very resilient (12 percent).
Promoting trust through autonomy
IDC advises the following recommendations in this context: Create a true "IT ecosystem" in which all IT services and capabilities can be managed. At the management level, resilient individuals and cultures should be characterized by a high degree of trust and focus on decentralized management and autonomy.
According to the market researchers, these cultures prove to be curious, capable of learning and problem-solving. More joint successes in teams also lead to trust.
IT roles, responsibilities and resources must also be broadly distributed to increase agility and to localize and mitigate outages, according to IDC.
Companies in Switzerland are also planning a large number of IT projects in 2022. According to IDC, the "Top 5" include modernization of infrastructure and the workplace (New Work), disaster recovery, business continuity, IT security and business software.
