How does the world's leading trade fair Security Essen 2016 in terms of figures: 1,040 (2014: 1,045) exhibitors from 45 (40) nations presented their products and services related to civil security. According to information, more than 40,000 trade visitors came, about the same number as two years ago.

One in four visitors placed their orders directly at the show (+8% compared to 2014). Exhibitors reported good business, with around 60 percent also expecting good to very good post-show business (+5%). The trade fair took place in a strong economic environment: in Germany alone, sales in the security industry amounted to around 14.5 billion euros (up around 17% in a two-year comparison).

The exhibition management is also pleased with the internationality of the visitors. Every third trade visitor came from abroad, with a particularly strong increase in the United Kingdom as well as Africa and Asia, according to the statement. The visitors came from a total of 119 (110) nations.

Surity is becoming more digital and networked

What trends could be identified? Security technology is becoming more networked and digital. Whether the padlock controllable by smartphone, high-resolution and mobile 4K video cameras, alarm technology connected to building automation or versatile drones with connected control center - the exhibitors demonstrated the state-of-the-art of modern security. What intelligent buildings can already do today was shown by the smart security showcase building of the BHE Bundesverband Sicherheitstechnik and Messe Essen. Divided into the areas of office buildings and private rooms, products, solutions and complete scenarios were on display showing how smart houses receive guests and react in the event of a break-in or fire.

On the first day of the fair, Messe Essen awarded particularly innovative solutions with the Security Innovation Award off.

Versatile supporting program

With an extensive supporting program, Security Essen offered exhibitors and visitors numerous opportunities for informative exchange, knowledge transfer and networking. In the traditional Security Forum, associations, manufacturers and practitioners provided answers to current security questions in lectures, live demonstrations and roundtables on all days of the fair.

High re-visit intentions among exhibitors and visitors

The trade visitors praised the range of products and services at Security Essen, the internationality of the fair and the innovations on display, as the organizers write in their final report. Already, 89 percent of them and 91 percent of the exhibitors had confirmed that they would be present at the next Security Essen. This will be held at Messe Essen from September 25 to 28, 2018. The newly introduced pre-booking has already led to a high level of interest: 74 percent of the exhibitors have already confirmed their renewed participation on site, as the organizers let it be known.
