Safe on two wheels E-bike, bicycle and motorcycle
Riding on two wheels is especially fun when it gets warmer and nicer again. For all motorcyclists, cyclists and e-bike riders, here is a summary of the BFU's most important safety tips
There is no crumple zone on two wheels. There is almost nothing to protect motorcyclists, e-bikers or cyclists. There is a high risk of it really hurting in an accident. Therefore: ride with foresight and defensively - and don't let an accident happen in the first place. This also means expecting to be overlooked. An e-bike, motorcycle or bicycle is not as big as a car. If in doubt, it is better to give up the right of way. If you make yourself clearly visible, you also reduce the risk of accidents. This means wearing bright clothing and reflective materials, preferably a fluorescent vest. And always ride with your lights on - even during the day. A motorcycle or bicycle helmet should of course be worn on every ride. Additional protective clothing is important on a motorcycle.
The most important tips
- Drive with foresight and defensively
- Always expect to be overlooked
- Making yourself visible - even during the day
- Wear a helmet
- Pay attention to ABS when buying a motorcycle and e-bike
By the way: Many motorcycles and e-bikes are available with ABS. ABS is even a legal requirement for new motorcycles and there are other safety-relevant rider assistance systems such as cornering ABS. It is worth paying attention to these when buying.
