Safe start to the motorcycle season

With the spring-like temperatures, the motorcycle lures you onto the roads. Stay safe with these tips.

The road beckons - stay safe on your bike with these tips.

With good equipment, a technically perfect bike and physical and mental fitness, riding a motorcycle is fun. With the tips of the Swiss Bicycle Research Center SFZ succeeds a good and safe start of the season.

High demands on concentration and fitness

If you are fit and well rested when you get on your bike, you will be more relaxed and safer. Driving with foresight does not mean driving slowly, but mentally active. When buying a motorcycle, it is important that the motorcycle and the rider are a good match: a test ride with several machines provides important information.

Good driver equipment is a must

With good equipment you ride comfortably and safely. Just wearing flip-flops and a T-shirt on the bike - a no-go! Motorcycle boots, jacket, gloves and a certified helmet are the minimum equipment. More safety is offered by pants/combined suit made of leather or safety fabric with protectors as well as a back protector.

Important: When buying a motorcycle, take into account the purchase cost of the equipment. When buying a helmet, make sure it fits perfectly; a well-fitting helmet increases riding pleasure. If possible, wear the helmet on your head for half an hour before buying and determine any annoying wind noise on a test ride. Replace helmet after 5 to 6 years.

Periodic service for longer service life

A well-maintained motorcycle runs perfectly and for thousands of kilometers. Observe the service intervals specified by the vehicle manufacturer. Important before the start of the season: a check at a specialist dealer reveals any defects before they spoil your riding pleasure.

Further training is fun and increases safety

If you ride better, you will enjoy riding more and ride safer. Course offers can be found on the Internet under the search term "motorcycle training courses". You can always learn more: advanced training courses are also recommended for experienced motorcyclists.
