Safety / Kaizen at the Rhaetian Railway
On Thursday 2 May 2019, the SGIG (Study Group for Health Protection in Industry, Service and Trade) will be holding a specialist conference on the subject of safety / Kaizen at the Rhaetian Railway in the Landquart workshops.
What began in 1889 with the opening of the line from Landquart to Klosters is today a 384-kilometer route network in the middle of the Swiss high mountains. With around 1,400 employees, the Alpine Railway moves 12 million passengers a year throughout Graubünden.
Everything that rolls on the rails of the Rhaetian Railway is procured and maintained by the Rolling Stock Division. Engineers, mechanics, planners and other specialists ensure that rail cars and traction units meet the requirements. When it comes to the procurement and maintenance of new traction units and railcars, the Rolling Stock business unit is the linchpin. The experts look after the Rhaetian Railway's rolling stock from the initial idea to the last day of operation. The modern workshops and broad-based knowledge create the conditions for this. To implement the Strategy 2020 in the areas of occupational safety and health protection, the company runs campaigns and has worked with Kaizen installed a continuous improvement process. At this symposium, participants will gain an insight into the procedure and the current status of these measures.
After the welcome by the President of SGIG, the following agenda is planned:
- Presentation by the Head of the Rolling Stock Division and Member of the Executive Board Mr. Ivo Hutter under the title "Company and Mission Statement Safety".
- This will be followed by presentations by RhB's internally responsible specialists on "Safety / Risk" - safety successes and actions, and "Safety at RhB" - Safety / Clever, rolling stock
- The expert presentation "RückenFit" (BackFit) by Nadja Murer, Suva, will show how the campaign has been sustainably supported.
- In the afternoon, the tour of the Landquart workshop is on the agenda.
