SICHERHEIT presents a compact picture of the industry
Today, Tuesday, it opened its doors: the security trade fair with congress in Zurich-Oerlikon. At the industry meeting point, the VBSF also awarded its security prize.
143 exhibitors, associations and publishers will present their technologies and services over the four days of the trade show (November 14-17). This 21. Safety Event 2017 will be held on compressed net area (4,887 m2) and thus in three exhibition halls. According to information, 23 companies (16%) are from abroad (D, F, I, A, CZ, GB, LT).
Exhibition manager Heinz Salzgeber did not conceal the fact that some major exhibitors, for example Dormakaba, cancelled their participation in the exhibition. "The approximately 40 new exhibitors could not compensate for this loss of space. This makes the 2017 security fair smaller, but no less attractive," Salzgeber said. "It will thus be more compact and more clearly arranged and thus very visitor-friendly." That applies to both trade fair visitors and congress participants, he added. The latter will find the two congress forums in the exhibition area for the first time.
Apart from the congress topics, the guest presentation by Marc Ruef was a highlight on this opening day. The IT specialist enlightened those present about the darknet and its dangers. Not an unimportant matter in the age of digitalization.
VBSF awards best works
Also on Tuesday, the Swiss Association of Fire Protection and Safety Professionals (VBSF) awarded its prize. This award is given to anyone who can present a significant work in the field of safety. Jury president Roger Holzer was pleased that this time six works of exclusively practical importance were submitted.
The VBSF main prize 2017 in the amount of 5000 Swiss francs went to Stéphane Gosteli of Even Hook SA. With the development "Maxicroc" is a grappling hook system. This makes it possible to easily and quickly loop a rope around a distant object to grab, secure and fasten it, the company points out. This allows firefighters, for example, to safely ascend to a target. But the system also helps in everyday rescue operations: it can be used to reach a person who is hanging in a rock face, for example, and needs to be evacuated by helicopter. But "Maxicroc" also serves the network electrician who has to climb a pole to carry out work.
The recognition award went to Stefan Wieland of the Sitasys AG for the development "EVALink Live". It is an alarming solution from a single source. The customer has a single point of contact for his concerns around alarm transmission, alarm reception and alarm processing.
Within the framework of the trade event also the Asis Swiss Chapter awarded its "Asis Young Professionals Annual Award in Switzerland". The prize of 2000 Swiss francs was won by Juliette Baud with her work "Etude de réseaux de personnes pour la détection de fraude à l'assurance automobile" at the University of Lausanne. The award was presented for the first time at Sécurité 2016 in Lausanne and aims to promote younger people in the security field. (rs)
