Security fair with about 6500 trade visitors

The security trade fair closed its doors last Friday after four days. It was quantitatively smaller than in previous years, but qualitatively the important central platform of the Swiss security industry, as the organizers emphasize.

The 2017 Security Trade Fair and Congress attracted some 6500 visitors and congress participants from November 14 to 17, 2017, the organizers announced today. The more than 140 exhibitors, associations and publishers presented a wide range of offerings. The visitors appreciated the compact industry picture during one week and at one central location, the exhibitors were pleased about the high quality of the visitors and about the opportunity to maintain and establish important personal contacts in the digital age, as it is further stated.

The right people came

"Fewer people came than two years ago, but they were the right people," says Oliver Laube, director of marketing for Germany, Austria, Switzerland at Ascom. "We have products that require explanation, and we want to bring them closer to the trade visitors. You have to be able to try them out and experience them yourself. You can't do that on the Internet. That's why this event is an ideal platform for us." For Stefan Schröder, owner and CEO of Eotec AG, personal contacts are the focus of the trade show appearance anyway: "Safety has a high priority for us, not only to show products, but especially because of the networking that we can do very well here."

Positive impressions despite questioned overall picture

The trade event was held on a compressed net area and in only three exhibition halls. The main topic "Risk management of natural hazards" was completely omitted this year. A number of major exhibitors also canceled their participation in the trade show, and the approximately 40 new exhibitors were unable to compensate for this loss of space. "This makes Security 2017 smaller, more compact, but no less attractive and thus guarantees a broad overview of the current security industry in Switzerland in a short time," says Exhibition Director Heinz Salzgeber.

Roger Isler, Sales Manager of Salto Systems AG, didn't mind the absence of some competitors: "I'm surprised that the show got smaller, because it's a very important show for us. We had many visitors at our stand and made very high-quality contacts. And we certainly benefited from the fact that some competitors are not here." Roman Hesse, Head of Sales at SEA Schliess-Systeme AG, agrees: "Within the security industry, security is the most important trade fair for us. We did have fewer visitors at our booth than in previous years. But especially because some competitors were missing, we were able to have very interesting discussions with numerous visitors. Our conclusion is absolutely positive."

This was also reflected in the high quality of the trade visitors. For they continued to impress with a high level of decision-making competence. Around 75 percent of them are decision-makers in their companies, operating in a wide range of industries, as Exhibit & More writes.

For the first time, the accompanying trade congress was completely integrated into the exhibition halls. According to information, just under 1,000 participants attended the 13 themed modules and the exhibitors greatly appreciated the newly gained proximity to the congress participants. "The integration into the exhibition halls has certainly been successful," says congress organizer Markus Good, Save AG. "It makes sense to bring the knowledge transfer and the trade exhibition under one roof. We only need to work a little on the acoustics and the background noise so that participants can concentrate on the presentations with even less distraction in the future."

Outlook

Next, the security trade fair is moving back to western Switzerland. The 5th Sécurité Lausanne will take place in the fall of 2018 (November 14-16) at Expo Beaulieu in Lausanne. All information can be found at www.securite-expo.ch

SicherheitsForum was the main media partner of the security trade event. The SF issues always sell like hotcakes.
