Security trade fair is canceled
This is unpleasant news for the security industry: the "ineltec" and "sicherheit" trade fairs planned for September 2019 will not be held. This was announced today by the MCH Group. The reason: lack of acceptance by the industry. However, a new format is to be set up.
The B2B platform has already failed in the run-up: Due to cancellations of important industry leaders in all exhibition segments of the Security trade fair and the building technology fair ineltec the MCH Group is streamlining its portfolio of events. The planned relocation of the security exhibition from Zurich to Basel and the first-time parallel staging of the event with ineltec were intended to exploit the high synergy potential among exhibitors and visitors. Nothing will come of this now.
Too little relevance in the target markets
The talks held with industry representatives since spring 2018 were promising and the concept with parallel staging was well received in the market, as the MCH Group writes. It adds: "By December 2018, well-known key exhibitors had expressed their interest in taking part, so that the halls were allocated step by step. Around seven months before the official exhibition date, the most important and largest exhibitors on the two exhibition platforms have now given a definitive refusal. The reason given is the current trade show concept, which has too little relevance in the target markets."
According to the exhibition management, 150 companies had registered for ineltec or sicherheit by the end of January; the target was around 350 exhibitors in total. For the safety platform, the organizers expected around 100 exhibitors by the end of January, but according to communications manager Dominique Farner, only 25 had signed up.
Due to the absence of numerous important industry leaders, the offer could not be shown completely and thus the expectations of the visitors could not be met, is therefore the reason for the cancellation of the exhibition duo.
New format to be launched
Do you have to use the only Security trade fair Switzerland to the grave after more than 40 years? In cooperation with various industry experts and with the support of important exhibitors, a new format will be developed in the coming months, the organizers say. They will now concentrate fully on the conception of this new edition with a clear visitor target group approach. Positive signals have already been received from the trade fair advisory board, they conclude. (rs)
