Security award for secure registrar
Switch and its counterparts in Austria (nic.at) and Germany (denic) have been recognized for their joint efforts to protect the domain name system. They have won the Security Award from the Council of European National Top Level Domain Registries (Centr).
The DACH registries have joined forces to improve the processes for protecting the Domain Name System (DNS). Switch, Nic.at and Denic have won the Centr Award in the security category for this new form of cooperation, Switch has announced.
Switch The information security management system (ISMS) for the DNS was implemented just over a year ago according to ISO 27001 certify let. The CH registry is one of the first certified registries in Europe. Switch has decided to carry out the internal auditing according to the ISO standard and the assessment of the maturity level with the registrars in Austria and Germany. For this reason, they meet with Nic.at and Denic three times a year, mutually review the security processes and develop recommendations for more security.
Continuous optimization of safety levels
The Domain Name System (DNS) is a critical infrastructure. It links an Internet address to the server on which the website resides. If it were to be hacked or malfunction for some other reason, many areas of daily life in Switzerland would come to a virtual standstill, according to Switch. For example, payment transactions or large parts of public transport would be severely affected by an outage. Switch is committed to protecting the DNS from outages and to constantly optimizing security.
