Security technology: sales exceed €4 billion for the first time

"With a total volume of 4183 million euros, security providers have cracked the 4 billion mark for the first time," said Norbert Schaaf, CEO of the BHE. "Evidence that the need for security is steadily increasing and that the various systems are gaining traction across all industries and user groups."

Fire alarm and access systems

There was very significant growth in the security technologies fire alarm systems (+8.0% to 1950 million euros) and voice alarm systems (+6% to 106 million euros). Access control (+7.2% to 329 million euros) and video security technology (+5.7% to 540 million euros) also achieved a particularly large increase. The increased interest in these systems is no coincidence, writes the German Security Technology Association. The technologies protect areas, buildings or rooms against unauthorized access and monitor sensitive areas. They are therefore suitable for a wide range of applications: Private homes, commerce, industry, public authorities, but also for the protection of public places and facilities.

Burglar alarm technology

According to the BHE, the growth in burglar alarm technology (+3.8% to 830 million euros) is primarily attributable to two factors: firstly, the high number of home burglaries and the associated feeling of many citizens that they are not safe within their own four walls. Secondly, the KfW subsidy has given the market a boost.
