Smart home for burglary protection

The networking of smart devices is also a trend in the security market. An interesting survey by the German BHE Bundesverband Sicherheitstechnik e.V. (Federal Association for Security Technology) shows which development security providers expect in the next few years.

A recent survey by the German BHE Bundesverband Sicherheitstechnik e.V. shows restrained customer interest in the increasing networking of smart devices in security technology. The survey refers to a selection of systems that can be combined with smart home components. The study by the German Security Technology Association also shows what developments security providers expect in the coming years.

Good demand for combinations such as video security and access control

According to the survey, companies rate the general business situation for intrusion detection systems (EMA) in particular as average (with a German school grade of 2.47). Meanwhile, the forecast level is not expected to change much in the next few years. More than 62 percent of the sales distribution in the EMA sector in the German market is accounted for by commercial customers.

Just over 36 percent of installed alarm systems are based on radio technology. The business situation for wireless alarm systems is also rated as average with a German school grade of 2.77. 32 percent of alarm systems could be combined with other security systems such as video security and access control. However, the 5-year outlook points to continued high demand in this area.

Nevertheless, customer interest in smart home solutions in conjunction with intrusion detection systems is rather restrained. Only 11 percent of the customers surveyed would have their burglar alarm systems combined with smart home solutions when they were installed. Almost half of the companies anticipate an increase in demand for alarm systems in the private sector.

For wireless and radio-based systems, as well as for the integration of alarm systems in combined security systems, more than half of the survey participants expect demand to increase.
