Stefan Schaffner is a new member of the SES Board of Directors
Stefan Schaffner was recently elected as a new member of the board of the Swiss Association of Security System Installers (SES).
The annual meeting of the safety engineering association SES is likely to go down in association history: Only the board of directors gathered in Baden and conducted the convention in the form of live streaming. For once, the representatives of the SES companies were not present in person, but sat at home or in the office to follow the proceedings on the screen and vote.
Like all other association business, the election of Stefan Schaffner as a new board member was uncontested. The father of four has been General Manager at Johnson Controls BT&S Switzerland since January 2020. Previously, the professional "globetrotter" held management positions at companies such as Otis/United Technologies Corporation or Skidata AG, where he was most recently CEO of Skidata USA before returning to Switzerland.
In addition to the newly elected, the following people are on the SES Board: Peter Nebiker (President / Siemens Switzerland), Martin Altorfer (Vice President / Securiton), Jim Steiner (BSW Security) and Fredy Meier (Minimax). Natalie Cattaneo is responsible for the association's office at Siemens in Volketswil ZH. (rs)
A detailed report on the SES General Meeting will appear in the next SafetyForum.
Cyber security anchored in the SES organizational chart
It goes without saying that security technology must not become the plaything of the hacker community. And because security companies have long since gone digital, their technology is also permanently exposed to the risk of a cyber attack. The SES association is now also increasingly addressing this issue. A working committee on cyber security, chaired by Edi Lehmann, has been in existence for some time. Since the recent general meeting, this has officially become a cyber security commission, which is firmly anchored in the association's organization chart. The commission is headed by Roger Hiestand (cf. interview). Corresponding cyber training courses for the industry are in preparation; following a pilot, these are to be launched next year. (rs)
