In contrast, the number of serious injuries in 2024 was the lowest in the last five years. More accidents involving young motorcyclists: FEDRO examines measures

Since the minimum age for category A1 motorcycles was lowered, FEDRO has closely analyzed accident trends in the 16-17 age group. The analysis shows: Between 2021 and 2023, the number of accidents involving 125cc motorcyclists in this age group more than doubled compared to 2018-2020.

In order to reduce the number of accidents, FEDRO will examine possible measures with affected interest groups over the next few months. Adjustments to training are conceivable, for example to the content or duration of the basic practical training course (PGS, compulsory course for motorcyclists). This will be implemented as part of an ongoing project to revise the PGS. The necessary consultation is planned for 2027.
