In fall 2024, TCS Ambulance's first dedicated ambulance subsidiary began operations in the Biel-Seeland region. Following the successful development of its business activities and increased operational volume, the company is expanding just over a year later: from December, it will operate from an additional base in the city of Bern. «Demand in the city and agglomeration of Bern is high,» comments Philippe Klaus, CEO of TCS Ambulance. «Geographical proximity to our customers, such as hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes, is very important.» The subsidiary has 20 employees. Across Switzerland, the TCS Ambulance Group employs around 400 people in seven companies.

Requirements of the canton

The separation of emergency rescue transport and simpler patient transport is a requirement in the canton of Bern. For this reason, Spitalzentrum Biel AG entered into a partnership with TCS Ambulance and founded TCS Ambulance Services Mittelland AG in 2024. Since then, the newly founded company has mainly been active in the Biel-Seeland region for secondary patient transports in categories S3 and S4. An S3 transport refers to a planned transfer of stable patients with a low risk of health deterioration; an S4 transport is categorized as the transfer of a stable patient without risk of deterioration and without medical monitoring equipment.
