TCS launches a protection service for the home
High number of break-ins: The Touring Club Switzerland now offers "TCS Home Security", an alarm system with security service.
TCS has been offering "TCS Home", the breakdown assistance service for home services, since 2022. Now it is expanding its offering to include home security with "TCS Home Security", a new alarm and intervention service to protect your own home from break-ins. The launch comes against the backdrop of rising burglary figures in Switzerland.
Together with the specialist company Securitas Direct, TCS Home Security offers an alarm and intervention service in the event of a break-in. This new service from TCS is aimed at private individuals who are looking for a customized security solution for their home. TCS Home Security comprises an alarm system with various components that is installed by specialists. The alarm system is supplemented by a reporting and intervention service from Securitas Direct, the exclusive partner of TCS Home Security. In the event of a break-in, an acoustic signal sounds. At the same time, the alarm is forwarded to Securitas Direct's 24-hour operations center. If the person responsible at Securitas Direct detects a break-in via remote monitoring, the police are notified. If the situation requires it, a Securitas employee can also be assigned on site.
Pilot project for the cantons of Geneva and Vaud
This TCS service will be extended to the whole of Switzerland in future, but will first be offered in the cantons of Geneva and Vaud. There is a reason for this: the two cantons rank among the top 3 with the most burglaries after Zurich. After the quieter Covid years, the crime figures from the Federal Statistical Office show a marked increase in burglaries and thefts. In 2023, the police recorded 41,429 cases, 15.9 percent more than in 2022. The 35,732 burglaries in 2022 already represented an increase of 14.6 percent compared to 2021. Within three years, this corresponds to an increase of 33%. Of all possible premises and facilities, the majority of burglaries affected residents of apartment buildings and single-family homes. According to insurance statistics, burglary losses in houses and apartments with alarm systems are around 90 percent lower.

TCS has teamed up with the leading Swiss security company Securitas Direct to develop this new service. Securitas Direct has continuously incorporated technological developments into its range of services.
