Acquisition in building technology
BKW and Swisspro Group AG are going their separate ways: Under the umbrella of BKW Building Solutions, a Switzerland-wide provider of complete solutions in electrical engineering, ICT and building IT is being created. Swisspro is also active in building security.
BKW acquires 100 percent of the Swisspro Group AG headquartered in Urdorf, Zurich. The transaction still has to be approved by the WeKo.
The merger of the two companies will create a Swiss alternative to the large international competitors in the field of building technology, BKW emphasizes in its press release. This is because the growing market for the digitalization and automation of industrial and commercial properties is currently dominated by large corporations headquartered abroad.
Also active in building security
With the acquisition of Swisspro, the BKW Building Solutions is expanding its business field in this technology-driven and future-oriented area. In one step, it will become a leading provider of ICT and building automation solutions as well as electrical engineering, BKW said. The building technology division of technology company Swisspro also includes video surveillance, access control and other building security topics.
210 million Swiss francs in sales - brand remains
According to information, the large company Swisspro currently employs a good 1100 people at its headquarters in Urdorf and its 18 locations in Switzerland. Sales in 2018 amounted to around 210 million Swiss francs.
In line with the previous acquisition strategy, Swisspro will be integrated into the BKW company network as an independent brand, it further states. The two current owners, Johann Jann and Mauro Dal Bosco, as well as the other members of the Executive Board, Bernard Frossard and Peter Winkler, will continue to manage the operational business of Swisspro, BKW also announced.
