Anyone who can present a significant work in the field of safety will be rewarded with a nice prize sum, which the Swiss Association of Fire Protection and Safety Professionals (VBSF) regularly awards. On Tuesday evening it was that time again. In the framework of the Security trade fairwhich takes place during four days in Zurich Oerlikon, jury president Roger Holzer and VBSF president Marco Wunderle were able to present the main prize of 5000 Swiss francs (category A, scientific). However, two recognition prizes of 2000 Swiss francs each were also awarded in category A and B (inventions, prototypes, etc.).

The winner of the main prize, Paul Frey, has tackled the subject of fire protection planning using engineering methods. According to Frey, there is an almost unmanageable amount of literature on the subject, mainly in English. However, there is no product-neutral reference work in German. Frey has now closed this gap: According to the VBSF jury, the result is a fairly complete compendium that is not only easy to read, but also practice-oriented.

The recognition award in category A went to Markus Spinnler. His topic: fire protection in the depots of Swiss art museums. According to Jugy, he has realized an innovative work in the field of cultural property protection that takes into account the latest findings.

Another recognition award (category B) goes to the French-speaking part of Switzerland, the winner is Thierry Meyer. His topic: Un outil d'évaluation et de cartographie des dangers.

A total of six entries were submitted for the 2015 VBSF Safety Award. The next competition will take place in 2017.
