Video security: joint paths of Bosch and Sony

Following official approval from antitrust authorities, the partnership between Bosch Security Systems and Sony Corporation in the field of video security solutions has been effective since February 2017 - with the exception of China, Bosch has announced.

Under the sales and marketing partnership, Sony's associated video security employees are now part of a new team within the Bosch Security Systems organization, he said. The team will serve Sony's video security customers in all markets - with the exception of Japan, he said. "We are looking forward to working with our new colleagues who bring such great expertise. "We are very pleased that Sony's video security customers will now be served by Bosch Security Systems. We will now further our partnership and jointly develop products that demonstrate leading expertise in video image quality and performance," added Toru Katsumoto of Sony Corporation.

Setting new standards for high-resolution video image capture

In terms of technological cooperation, both companies aim to set new standards for high-resolution video image capture combined with outstanding light sensitivity, complemented by Bosch's expertise in built-in video analytics and efficient bit rate management. In March 2017, Sony will add eight new full-HD (1080p) video security cameras to its 6th generation (G6) network camera product portfolio, addressing the ever-growing demand for high-resolution image quality in the video security market, according to the announcement. At the same time, Bosch is updating its video analytics and bit rate management portfolio. Starting in May 2017, all network cameras from the IP 4000 series onward would come standard with built-in video analytics as well as the latest bitrate management technologies combined with H.265 video encoding, which can reduce bitrates by up to 80 percent, the vendor writes.

The first jointly developed products are planned for 2018, he said. "We look forward to providing our customers with best-in-class video security solutions - in existing and new market segments," said Gert van Iperen, chairman of the divisional board of Bosch Security Systems.
