Virtual Reality for the Fire Department
Emergency situations cannot be practiced enough. That's why a resourceful company had a training simulator programmed for the fire department's respiratory protection task forces.
The Asteam AG specializes in respiratory protection and also offers courses for firefighters. In order to make more effective use of the latest technologies in the "courses" business sector, the company had a virtual respiratory protection simulator developed in Wohlen. Now, emergency situations can be practiced more realistically with the training simulator, as the advertising agency Interpoint writes, which developed the concept.

In the application, the trainee finds himself in three different rooms that are heavily smoked. There, he has to recognize a wide variety of objects within a given period of time. A good sense of direction and quick perception are important for this. The simulator is used with virtual reality goggles.
Endurance test at Suisse Public
The simulator celebrated its premiere at the Suisse Public in Bern and inspired the spectators. The situation in the application is simulated very real and is credibly reinforced by the sound of breathing through the protective mask, they say. As a give-away, visitors to the trade fair also received Asteam VR goggles. The first part of the simulator is available as an app in the Google Playstore.
According to Asteam, the respiratory protection specialist has already received initial inquiries at the trade fair from fire departments that want to integrate the use of the simulator into their training.
