Beware of overly lucrative job offers!

The Federal Office of Police has again received increased reports of attempted recruitment of financial and parcel agents this month. The Fedpol warns against such overly lucrative job offers.

In a new wave, criminals offer lucrative jobs (money transactions or forwarding packages) by mail or with ads. They often describe an alleged part-time position as "regional manager" or "the opportunity to work from home." The perpetrators act according to Fedpol very professional and convincing. In some cases, they would even create websites of companies that are properly registered in the commercial register. By participating, one could possibly become liable to prosecution for money laundering or, at best, for receiving stolen goods, because so-called financial or parcel agents make it possible to conceal the origin and whereabouts of illegal money or products, according to the Federal Office.

In the case of overly lucrative job offers, the Fedpol recommends:

  1. Check the job offer carefully (Is the offer realistic? Does the effort correspond to the earnings?).
  2. Do not reply to such mails and do not submit any personal data.
  3. Report such incidents to Fedpol along with the material collected on the Registration form.
