What do the SCSD offer this time?

The Swiss Cyber Security Days celebrated their premiere just under a year ago. The event will soon be held for the second time in the bilingual city of Fribourg. For this time, a cooperation with the WEF has also been initiated.

With the Swiss Cyber Security Days (SCSD), an important national platform has been created: a meeting place for suppliers, service providers, educational institutes and authorities, the organizers emphasize.

Besides a forum (see Program), which builds a bridge between experts and laypeople, the organizers are planning innovative worlds of experience as part of the exhibition: "Trust in a hyper connected digitized society" forms the overarching theme of SCSD 2020 - in other words, the question of trust in a digitized society. Various topics are intended to facilitate the transfer of knowledge in an unconventional way and make the central cyber issues tangible.

The SCSD is now chaired by risk expert and FDP National Councilor Doris Fiala. With regard to cybercrime, she speaks of one of the greatest risks facing Switzerland. According to Fiala, it not only affects external security, but also significantly affects internal security.

In February 2019, the SCSDs kicked off their first year with over 2200 visitors (see post here). On February 12 and 13, 2020, the aim is to build on this and get decision-makers from all sectors, authorities and politicians on board.

Special program for SMEs

In addition to highly technical events for IT and IT security specialists, the event offers events specifically tailored to education (universities and technical colleges) and innovative start-up projects. However, best-practice presentations for SMEs are also on offer. The SCSD also focuses on the exchange of experiences. For example, a cyber attack on a luxury watch brand manufacturer will demonstrate how quickly a company's reputation can be at stake.

Cooperation with WEF

In the age of the fourth industrial revolution, cyber attacks have the potential to throw an entire society off balance. It therefore makes sense to include the World Economic Forum (WEF) in the discussion, the organizers said. This collaboration manifests itself in a special on February 13, 2020, they said, organizing together with the Center for Cybersecurity of the WEF a panel with participants from around the world. This would bring together experts and opinion leaders from two communities with a common goal: to inform and collaborate to improve cybersecurity and contribute to a more secure and stable world.

Such cooperation is exceptional for the WEF and shows how important the topic of cyber security has become.
