Around the world, companies are ramping up their operations again - International SOS supports them with the new "Covid-19 Impact Map.: The world map presents a summary assessment for all countries of the impact of COVID-19 on health, safety and logistics, and thus on local business operations. The first of its kind, the map brings together information and analysis on business-critical indicators (1) affected by Covid-19, the organization writes in its media release.

Supplement to the "Risk Map

The Covid-19 Impact Map is publicly available. It complements the International SOS Risk Map, which already covers health and safety, including road safety.

In order to provide international companies with information for all countries in the world (1), the data on which the "Covid-19 Impact Map" is based would be updated daily. The analysis takes into account the following factors:

  • Covid 19 case numbers 14-day moving average
  • the environment of health and safety risks
  • Restrictions on travel within the respective country and restrictions on travel abroad
  • Existing measures against covid-19 and their effectiveness

The "Covid-19 Impact Map" helps customers provide their local action plans and global strategy with concrete, real-time updated information, according to Cédric Fraissinet, Managing Director Switzerland and Italy at International SOS. This allows them to minimize the impact of the pandemic on their teams and operations, he said.

Holistic approach to security risks

"In addition to Covid-19, companies need to be made aware of what we call second- and third-degree health and safety risks," adds Gautier Porot, security director at International SOS. Natural disasters, political tensions, elections and civil unrest will continue to occur, he said, and the pandemic will exacerbate some of these events. A holistic approach is essential to assess all risks and implement appropriate strategies, he said. This is to protect the company and its employees, but also to ensure business continuity and thus the resilience of the company and their teams.

On this basis, International SOS had classified Switzerland with the status "Low". The parameter takes into account the dynamics of the epidemic in the respective country. As things stand today, economic activity is possible with slight restrictions. Most companies in various sectors are active as before.

In addition to the Covid-19 Impact Map ratings, International SOS exclusively provides customers with detailed logistical information on inbound travel to specific countries and regions (Inbound Travel Impact Scales). This included information on air traffic restrictions and entry requirements, among other things. Customers would also have access to the variables behind the impact map and recommendations from experts to minimize the pandemic impact on business operations.

(1) An overall value is given for each country. It should be noted, however, that the effects of Covid-19 may vary greatly in individual localities of a country, so there may be differences - e.g. between cantons, municipalities or cities.
