Tools for strong data protection
The Data Protection Commissioner of the Canton of Zurich has launched new privacy tools. The tools are aimed at anyone who wants to better protect their data.
The data protection officer of the Canton of Zurich provides new tools to optimize data protection:
Password check
Strong passwords prevent unauthorized people from accessing data. At www.datenschutz.ch is available with immediate effect a new Password check which checks the quality of the passwords used. The password is judged to be strong or weak based on various criteria such as length and characters used. It is additionally checked against dictionaries of the four national languages as well as English.
App "Privacy.ch"
With the newly designed app "Privacy.ch" provides users with comprehensive tools on data protection topics. It integrates the password check as well as the new data protection lexicons. In addition, the most important rights of citizens are explained and they are given simple ways to exercise their rights. The right to information can be requested directly from the app, or a request can be submitted to the data protection officer.
Privacy encyclopedias
New to the encyclopedia for elementary schools are the equally well-founded reference works for colleges and residents' inspectorates. The encyclopedias include alphabetically arranged keywords with answers to the most frequently asked questions in practice.
