New design, more functions, more clarity, more and revised learning content - the newly revised White Risk app for tours in the snow.

Completely revamped, the White Risk App of the WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF into the second half of the winter season. "The operation is now more accessible and the app is easier to use," explains software developer Julian Fisch from the SLF Warning and Information Systems Group. The White Risk app is aimed at anyone who is out and about in open terrain in winter, whether freeriding, hiking, snowshoeing or on a ski tour. This makes it the "all-in-one" app for tours, from information on current weather, snow and avalanche conditions to planning and orientation in the terrain.

In future, it will be even easier to create your own tours and manage your own tour collection. At the same time, the detailed view of the key points has been revised to better convey the dangers in the terrain. "In addition, synchronization between PC and smartphone now works faster," says Fisch. This makes it even more convenient to plan the next tour at home on the big screen and transfer it to a mobile device.

Also new: if you plan alternative routes on a planned tour for more flexibility along the way, you will receive detailed information on the altitude profile and estimated duration of the alternative.

In addition, the SLF team has integrated numerous learning contents with e-learning lessons into the app. This part is still in the test phase. "However, it is already available to users of the app," says Fisch.
