In the first half of 2025, agriss and the Swiss Council for Accident Prevention in Agriculture (BUL) recorded 15 fatal accidents in connection with agriculture. In comparison: 12 fatal accidents were recorded in the first half of the previous year.<\/p>\n

Eleven fatal accidents in connection with agricultural work <\/b><\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Two people died when a tractor or transporter overturned.<\/li>\n
  • Two people were run over by a tractor.<\/li>\n
  • Two people were trapped or crushed by machinery.<\/li>\n
  • Three people were hit by a tree or parts of a tree while working in the forest.<\/li>\n
  • Two people fell fatally from a hay crane or through a discharge opening.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Three fatal accidents involving third parties, one accident involving a child <\/b><\/h3>\n

    Three third parties and a child died in connection with agricultural work. The causes were a collision between an e-bike and a tractor, a fall from a hay crane during maintenance work and being run over by a herd of cattle. The child was fatally injured by a falling object.<\/p>\n

    Mixed age groups <\/b><\/h3>\n

    The average age of the eleven people who died in agricultural accidents was 55. The youngest person was 19 years old, the oldest 84. Six of the accident victims were already of retirement age.<\/p>\n

    Reduce risks <\/b><\/h3>\n

    In the routine of everyday life, dangers are often underestimated or ignored. Accident investigations sometimes reveal work situations in which risks are consciously or unconsciously accepted.<\/p>\n

    The new \"Risk down\" campaign (www.risikorunter.ch) focuses on precisely this and shows dangerous situations from everyday agricultural work, combined with practical tips on how these situations can be defused.<\/p>\n
