At times, you really had to fight your way through the aisles at it-sa. 15,632 international trade visitors (2018: 14,290) made the exhibition in Nuremberg the meeting place for the international IT security community over the three days of October (October 8-10). 753 exhibitors (2018: 698) from 25 countries - another record - presented their cybersecurity solutions.<\/p>\n

\"The clear increase in exhibitor and visitor numbers and the renewed increase in exhibition space confirm the relevance of it-sa as the leading international platform for cyber security,\" explained Petra Wolf, of N\u00fcrnbergMesse. The organizers were also able to increase the internationality of the event: With a plus of 20 per cent more visitors from abroad, this was even higher than the growth within Germany, as Frank Venjakob, Exhibition Director of it-sa, explained.<\/p>\n

Four International Joint Stands<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the exhibitor side, it-sa 2019 was also very international: Companies from the Basque Country, the Netherlands, Austria and the Czech Republic each presented themselves at their own joint stands. The importance of the trade fair for cross-border cooperation in cybersecurity was also demonstrated, for example, by the \"German-Dutch IT Security Breakfast\" with the participation of Consul General Paul Ymkers, to which the German IT Security Association TeleTrusT invited delegations from Austria and the Czech Republic. Intensification of cross-border cooperation in this increasingly important topic was also emphasized several times at the panels.<\/p>\n

Special Keynote by best-selling author Glenny.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Five open forums, including the English-language International Forum, offered exciting insights into IT security with around 350 contributions. The highlight was the special keynote by British investigative journalist and \"McMafia\" author Misha Glenny on the last day of the trade fair. He took the audience on a journey through the world of organized crime, the darknet and various forms of cybercrime. Today, according to his thesis, increasing networking and the use of machine learning for automated decisions in the field of cyber security pose a new challenge: humans are often no longer able to comprehend the dimension of the algorithms used, and there is therefore a risk of losing control. Exhibitors at the IT security trade show it-sa 2019 were surveyed by the independent market research institute Gelszus on current market developments.
