L'appareil est si compact qu'il pourrait \u00eatre int\u00e9gr\u00e9 dans les smartphones de la prochaine g\u00e9n\u00e9ration.<\/p>\n<h2>Cl\u00e9 Phosphore noir<\/h2>\n<p>Lorsque les gaz sont expos\u00e9s \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re infrarouge, ils absorbent une partie des fr\u00e9quences lumineuses. Ce qui reste permet de d\u00e9terminer la composition du gaz. Si l'on utilise une lumi\u00e8re infrarouge de diff\u00e9rentes fr\u00e9quences, il devient possible d'identifier diff\u00e9rents gaz. \"Pour y parvenir, nous avons d\u00e9pos\u00e9 une fine couche de cristaux de phosphore noir sur un support flexible\", explique Kenneth Crozier de l'universit\u00e9 de Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>En fonction de leur \u00e9tat de flexion, les cristaux de phosphore \u00e9mettent une lumi\u00e8re infrarouge de diff\u00e9rentes fr\u00e9quences, qui peuvent \u00eatre adapt\u00e9es au gaz pr\u00e9sum\u00e9 - la viande avari\u00e9e, le cuir et le m\u00e9thane, qui peut \u00eatre produit dans les mines de charbon, peuvent \u00eatre d\u00e9tect\u00e9s \u00e0 diff\u00e9rentes fr\u00e9quences. \"Nous obtenons effectivement de fortes variations de fr\u00e9quence lorsque nous plions la minuscule plaquette\", ajoute Ali Javey de l'Universit\u00e9 de Californie \u00e0 Berkeley.<\/p>\n<h2>Pour les mangeurs de viande et les pompiers<\/h2>\n<p>Selon les scientifiques, un tel appareil pourrait \u00eatre int\u00e9gr\u00e9 dans un r\u00e9frig\u00e9rateur. Il d\u00e9clencherait une alarme s'il d\u00e9tectait les gaz typiques d'une viande avari\u00e9e.
