Axis Communications launches a new security solution specifically designed with healthcare needs in mind. AXIS Q9307-LV Dome Camera is the first all-in-one audiovisual solution from Axis Communications to combine four key security functions in a single device: a network video camera, a two-way speaker with built-in microphone, video and audio analytics technology and a notification LED display.

The high-resolution video quality of the dome camera enables reliable remote observation of patients, while the integrated video and audio analysis function is specially designed to detect various risk situations that occur in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. These include, for example, the detection of patients who have fallen using third-party AI-based video analysis software.

It is now also possible to detect coughing fits and raised voices using audio detection. A sensor identifies certain sound patterns that occur in connection with aggression, making it an efficient tool for reducing attacks on hospital and nursing staff. This enables staff to react quickly to risk situations in order to protect patients and themselves effectively and preventively.

With its built-in speaker and four integrated microphones, the dome camera also provides reliable two-way communication. Thanks to these two-way communication features, customers also benefit from audio alerts based on AXIS Object Analytics: For example, remote communication can be used to reassure a patient who is not allowed to leave a certain area - such as their hospital bed or room - or to indicate when emergency measures have been initiated and help is on the way. AXIS Object Analytics can also be used to secure certain areas of a hospital that only certain people are allowed to enter - such as the intensive care unit: If a previously defined line is crossed in the camera's image area, this automatically triggers a corresponding warning message.

Numerous use cases for everyday life in the healthcare sector

AXIS Q9307-LV Dome Camera's video and audio analytics can be configured and optimized for specific, typical healthcare use cases using a variety of settings. These include

  • Remote observation / telemedicine: Enables doctor visits and patient examinations to be carried out remotely, saving considerable time and effort for both patients and doctors.
  • Remote communication: Enables the transmission of audio messages to reassure patients, announce emergency measures or let them know that help is on the way.
  • Detection of coughing fits: Allows staff to be alerted early in the event of coughing fits, enabling faster intervention to improve patient care in an emergency.
  • Detection of aggression: Enables proactive response when voice recognition reports fear, anger or verbal aggression to better protect staff and patients.
  • Virtual participation in the operating theater: Enables additional people to participate virtually in operations.
Detection of blocked exits: Hospital staff are notified if previously defined areas, e.g. an emergency exit, are blocked.
  • Loitering detection: Protects buildings and properties by automatically detecting people who remain in predefined areas for too long.

Optimized security and data protection

At the same time, the identity and privacy of patients, staff and relatives is ensured with the help of AXIS Live Privacy Shield masking software, which is also integrated into the camera. In addition, no audio files are stored when the integrated audio analysis application captures coughing fits or raised voices in stressful situations or arguments. In addition, an LED indicator on the camera informs you at all times whether the AXIS Q9307-LV Dome Camera is currently recording or transmitting audio signals.

A robust, economical and audiovisual all-in-one solution

The housing of AXIS Q9307-LV Dome Camera has a robust design with an impact resistance rating of IK08 to protect against vandalism. In addition, the camera has a special chemical resistance against special cleaning agents used in hospitals and similar facilities. The robust design and chemical resistance, together with a wide range of features and cost-effective and easy installation, make AXIS Q9307-LV Dome Camera an economical all-in-one solution for use in clinics, hospitals, outpatient clinics and nursing homes.

"With the new Q9307-LV dome camera, which uses AI-based video analysis as well as new, powerful audio analysis functions, we can address several challenges facing health and care facilities at once. This is especially true as a shortage of skilled workers meets an increasingly elderly society, making remote care of patients and care recipients more and more important," says Jochen Sauer, Architect & Engineering Manager at Axis Communications.

The most important features of the AXIS Q9307-LV dome camera at a glance:

  • 5 MP video with bidirectional audio
  • Pre-installed audio and video analysis functions
  • Remote monitoring while safeguarding privacy in accordance with the GDPR
  • Resistance to special chemical cleaning agents
  • Compatibility with Milestone's Xprotect Hospital Assist for the Xprotect core video management system, with special features for remote observation of intensive care and nursing patients
  • Economical all-in-one device
